En mayo de 1986  el Ayuntamiento de Valencia y la Autoridad Portuaria firmaron un convenio que permitía la ampliación del Puerto de Valencia por el sur, es decir, extendiendo sus construcciones de hormigón sobre la arena, las casetas y las aguas del barrio de Nazaret. La playa de Nazaret fue sustituida por un muro y el barrio perdió su salida al mar. A este muro se le conoce como el muro de la verguenza.

Por si fuera poco, en 2008, el Ayuntamiento de Valencia decidió ubicar en este barrio parte del circuito de Formula 1, separando completamente de la ciudad un barrio que ya entonces tenía limitados sus accesos por la autovía y las vias del tren. Nazaret quedó prácticamente aislado, con un único acceso y con apenas conexiones de transporte público.

In May 1986 the City Council of Valencia and the Port Authority signed an agreement that allowed the expansion of the Port of Valencia from the south, that is, extending its concrete constructions on the sand, the huts and the waters of Nazaret district. The beach of Nazaret was replaced by a wall and the neighborhood lost its exit to the sea. This wall is known as the wall of shame.

As if that were not enough, in 2008, the City Council of Valencia decided to locate part of the Formula 1 circuit in this neighborhood, completely separating a neighborhood from the city, that had already limited its access by the highway and the train tracks. Nazaret was practically isolated, with a single access and with few public transport connections.
